Hi Everyone,
I am still finding my way around my little boat and thinking up ways to improve some things.
One thing concerns me and that is the lifting keel arrangement.
In the unfortunate event of a total capsize, it looks like the keel would retract completely, making a recovery almost impossible ?
Has anyone devised a system to “lock down” the keel ?
Hey i am not a physics expert but i would assume that the chance for exact right conditions and enough time for the keel to slide up the shaft would be super marginal.
I think in the CE conformity declaration document there was something mentioned about the righting of the boat with keel up and down. For the Sportina but still.
The thing has made it through certification and they also look at the righting ability after cap size so dont worry about it.
Wouldnt know how to bolt the keel in the down position, but you dont need to.

After a broach under spi the masthead of my clever touched the water. I was standing on the side of the bench and holding to a winch. The keel stayed in place and the water did not even reach the window. Realizing why the entrance of the boat is that narrow she uprighted herself. We lowered the spi and sailed on, a bit pale.
This was a 90 degree capsize without any waves.

Thanks for the input, your experience has put my mind at rest !
